About me

I work for a well known Healthcare IT company and have been there going on 10 years.  For the past 3 years, my role has allowed me to start working with SQL, and I haven;t looked back,.  I eat, drink, and breathe SQL and want to learn more.  Nothing is more exciting to me than having a job where no 2 days are alike, and the learning possibilities are endless.

I have some goals for the year ahead and hope to chronicle the journey here, as well as keep myself accountable for setting goals and achieving them.

I suppose the first thing I need to do is figure out how to customize Blogger to my liking.

I just attended SQL Saturday #184 in CT this past weekend and met some really amazing people in the community.  I know they will not remember meeting me, and that is ok, but my goal over the next few years is to be on the way to becoming one of their peers and even present at some SQL Saturday events!!

I want to be a DBA.  In many ways I already am, in that the things I do day to day are things a DBA (and often a Sys Admin) would do, but I have to learn as I go.  I am good with that as it is fundamentally the way I learn.

I recently purchased the Exam 70-461 Training Kit Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and have set a goal to take the exam  by 8/1/13.  There are 3 exams total for SQL Server 2012 and I plan to have taken (and passed) all by 3/1/14.

At the age of 52 (!) it is really exciting to me to still be learning new things, to have every day be not like any other, and to feel like my life has so much further to go!!
